Join Wordsmithery and Paint The Town on a two-day introductory workshop led by Lung Theatre Company, creatives of the verbatim theatre show ‘The 56’. The workshops will support a future project with Wordsmithery in spring 2017.
Workshop One: Thursday 22 September
Introduces you to documentary theatre, examining how to find and collate stories and the legal aspects of these stories in verbatim works.
Workshop Two: Sunday 25 September
Offers a chance to get feedback on your personal written accounts, and discuss the next steps in turning a true story into a full creative performance.

Wordsmithery is an independent literary arts organisation and publisher who specialise in managing literature events and projects, Development, and publishing. They have managed over 100 literary events and projects since they began.
Wordsmithery believe that literature development is about identifying and nurturing writers; and helping to give everyone the chance to get writing. They run literary Projects and Showcase events, and also offer dramaturgy and script editing services to writers, who are looking to develop their manuscripts and plays. LUNG is dedicated to making work by communities, for communities, with communities. Touring work from Bradford to Battersea, they are committed to crafting political verbatim theatre, platforming innovative new writing and facilitating high-quality engagement & participation programmes. LUNG are Associate Artists at The Lowry. They are also working with the kind support of the National Theatre Studio, Battersea Arts Centre and Barnsley Civic.
