Moving Roots Touring Network

We are very excited to announce that Medway’s Lyrici Arts is one of five nationwide partners on Battersea Arts Centre’s Moving Roots Touring Network.

Project led by Battersea Arts Centre, Moving Roots will take place over three years, working with producers in Wigan, Peterborough, Medway, Blackburn and East Cardiff, to deliver co-created projects to generate positive social change in communities. The three co-created projects will have touring and live performance at their heart and will be a vehicle for local people to engage and create within their communities.

Lyrici Arts previously ran Paint The Town Festival for Medway from 2016- 2019 as part of Battersea Arts Centre’s ‘Collaborative Touring Network.’ In partnership with nine regional partners the project reached audiences of 50,000 people, many of whom were new to the arts.

“It isn’t about organisations ‘reaching out’ to people in underserved communities - it’s about bringing people together for a common creative purpose, as equal partners, as joint collaborators, as ‘co-creators’ in the deepest sense of the term. These ambitious new partnerships and ways of working have a simple idea at their heart: that it is possible for us all to achieve a fairer, more inclusive and more vibrant cultural future.
— Tarek Iskander, Artistic Director & CEO, Battersea Arts Centre

We are very excited to be a part of the Moving Roots Touring Network project. As producers we have a responsibility to stay relevant in a changing world. We need to adapt to a brand new way of thinking, one which initiates change and learning. One which uses art to spark discussion around topics which matter to communities.
— Keely Augustus, Artistic Director and Creative Producer, Lyrici Arts
